Hout Bay Trail Challenge

Entry Process:

Total number of race participants allowed on the mountain – 250 (relay team of 3 people = 1).

Only online entries will be accepted if you can’t enter online please contact trailchallenge@sports4u.co.za.

Entry allocation:

Opening of entries will be published on the website and sent out to all those on the Sports4u database. Sports4u cannot be held responsible for undelivered emails.

WINNERS 9:

To ensure the competitive edge of the race the winners of each category (Seniors, Woman, Vets, Woman Vet, Masters; Woman Masters; Men’s Team; Woman Team; Mixed Team) are guaranteed a place in the this year’s race (2011).

If a winning team wishes to split up and compete as individuals, then they will be invited to enter with all other Previous Years Participants. A winning team may enter as a team with two different team members; one team member must remain the same as the previous year.

All previous year’s category winners will receive an email inviting them to enter the race.

PAST PARTICIPANTS’ LIST – 100:

If you competed in 2010 and one of the first 100 to enter, you will secure your place in this year’s Hout Bay Trail Challenge. NOTE there were 250 plus (including teams) past participants and only 100 places, therefore not ALL past participants will be guaranteed a place in this year’s Hout Bay Trail Challenge.

If a past participant is unsuccessful in obtaining an entry they will automatically be allocated a place on the waiting list.

WAITING LIST- 90:

The waiting list from 2010 will be carried over to 2011.

The first 90 names on the waiting list will be guaranteed a place in this year’s Hout Bay Trail Challenge.

All if you are accepted on the race you will have 72 hours to make payment or forfeit your place in the race.

DEVELOPMENT RUNNERS – 6:

Development trail runner’s places will be allocated at the race organiser’s discretion in conjunction with various athletics clubs. If these places are not filled they will be allocated to the waiting list trail runners.

WILDCARDS – 5:

5 places will be awarded to random trail runners at the race organiser’s discretion. These entrants will be invited by email.

CHARITY RUNNERS – 6:

Help make the 10th Hout Bay Trail Challenge the start of running for a better future! There are 6 places for anyone wishing to run for one of the chosen charities – namely BrightStart or Journey Trails.

You can enter as a team or an individual all that is required from you and or your team is to raise x (TBC) amount of money to secure your entry in the 10th Hout Bay Trail Challenge 2011.

Withdrawal and Substitution

WITHDRAWAL

If you are unable to race this year after you have received your race confirmation email (that is you have paid up) for 2011, you may withdraw.

If you withdraw from the race and do not inform the race organiser your name will be removed from the past participants list for the next year.

SUBSTITUTION

You may substitute!

If you chose to substitute then you will forfeit your place on the past participants list to the person you substitute with. There will be a substitution fee of R50.00 per substitution. Anyone wishing to withdraw from the race is to follow the procedures for withdrawal above. Trail Runner’s from the waiting list will fill the withdrawal positions.

Team substitutions can be done online. If 1 or 2 members of a team are unable to run, then the team manager will need to make the necessary changes online and pay the substitution fees.

For an individual substitution, the substituting person needs to be registered on the waiting list. They can do this by registering online. Once the person substituting is registered please email trailchallenge@sports4u.co.za and the race organiser will approve the substitution and email both parties the necessary details.
